Barcelona Set to Play First Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome the Bilbao team in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
