Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton head coach - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
