Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, adding that he could not remember "one day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public figures shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial statements that were broadly criticized by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "disturbing" and implied they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide should have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the passing was made.
